Rotary APS (Accelerator Position Sensor)

Introducing a New Operating Method

Split design: operator and grip

We separated the operating section from the grip to realize a mechanism in which only a portion of the grip rotates.
Unlike conventional APS designs where the entire grip rotates, this enables a new way of operation.

*We are currently confirming that this design complies with Japan’s current motorcycle safety standards, which require a rotational action for throttle control.

Relaxed, low-effort control

By tilting the operation lever, the throttle opening is controlled.
Because it can be operated with the thumb only, the rider can keep the palm relaxed while riding.

Adjustable stroke & actuation force

The lever’s operating stroke and actuation force are adjustable, providing a rider-tuned feel.

  • Short travel, light force → nimble, effortless throttle control
  • Long travel, higher force → deliberate, substantial throttle control

Room for expansion

Because the grip section is decoupled from the rotation mechanism, there is ample space for additional components and functions.
By integrating a vibration (haptic) motor, LEDs, and more, the system can convey richer feedback to the rider and support a more comfortable ride.

Operating mechanism

The fundamental operating mechanism is the same as that of our mass-produced products. You can experience the new control feel with the same confidence as before.

Grip design

The grip has nearly the same shape as the Sliding Type APS developed in the same period.
Its ergonomically contoured design fits naturally in the rider’s hand.
