IP code represents by the grade the degree of waterproof and dustproof. IP code is defined as the degree of protection provided by enclosures of electrical equipment in JIS C 0920 (IEC60529).Two numbers after the IP represents the degree of protection. The first characteristic number represents degree of protection against solid foreign objects. The second characteristic numeral represents the degree of protection provided against the intrusion of water. This degree of protection is validated by the standardized test.
When used in harsh environments, we provide products that guarantee the IP67 or more.

Protect against solid objects over 50mm in diameter. |
An access probe, sphere of 50 mm in diameter, shall have adequate clearance from hazardous parts, and shall have adequate clearance from hazardous parts. |
2 |
Protected against solid objects over 12.5mm in diameter. |
An object probe, sphere of 12.5 mm in diameter, shall not fully penetrate. |
3 |
Protected against solid objects over 2.5mm in diameter. |
An object probe of 2.5 mm in diameter shall not penetrate at all. |
4 |
Protected against solid objects over 1.0mm in diameter. |
An object probe of 1.0 mm in diameter shall not penetrate at all, and shall have adequate clearance. |
5 |
Limited protection against dust ingress. |
Ingress of dust is not totally prevented, but dust shall not penetrate in a sufficient quantity to interfere with satisfactory operation of the apparatus or to impair safety. |
6 |
Totally protected against dust ingress. |

1 |
Protected against vertically falling drops of water or condensation. |
Vertically falling drops shall have no harmful effects. |
2 |
Protected against falling drops of water, if the case is disposed up to 15 from vertical. |
Vertically falling drops shall have no harmful effects when the enclosure is tilted at any angle up to 15º on either side of the vertical. |
3 |
Protected against sprays of water from any direction. |
Water sprayed at an angle up to 60º on either side of the vertical shall have no harmful effects. |
4 |
Protected against splash water from any direction. |
Water splashed against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. |
5 |
Protected against low pressure water jets from any direction. |
Water projected in jets against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. |
6 |
Protected against high pressure water jets from any direction. |
Water projected in powerful jets against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. |
7 |
Protected against short periods of immersion in water. |
Ingress of water in quantities causing harmful effects shall be prevented when the enclosure is immersed in 1m of water for 30 minutes. |
8 |
Protected against long, durable periods of immersion in water. |
Ingress of water in quantities causing harmful effects shall be prevented when the enclosure is continuously immersed in water under conditions which shall be agreed between manufacturer and user (>IPX7). |
